The concept of a bed in a bag or a bed in a box is an intriguing one. There is a huge variety of what you get in the bag when you purchase this type of bedroom attire. The most basic of the bed in a bag includes the minimum of items in it. For a twin size, you’ll get a top and bottom sheet and two pillowcases and a duvet or comforter. The full/queen size basic set includes the same items and the king size set includes the same as above but with king-size pillowcases. Some of the sets labeled as a bed in a bag do not include sheets.
This list is a long one, depending on how many pieces you want in your bedroom. King and queen size sets usually offer more extras than twin size bed in a bags, although you can find some twin sets with more pieces depending on where you make your purchase.
You may get one or more decorative pillows in a set. They can be square, rectangular or
Bed skirts are often in a bed in a bag to cover your mattress and have a lovely matching material that is near the floor level. Sometimes a bed set of this type includes throw blankets to snuggle in on top of the bed while watching television or reading in bed.
When considering the purchase of bedding in a bag, read the label closely to make certain how many pieces you are getting. It is best not to order this type of bedding online and have it shipped to you, but rather to open the zipper or snaps and actually feel and look at the materials everything is made from. The package should list the materials of the comforter, bed skirt, pillow shams and pillowcases and the sheets.
The comforters are often made of 100 percent polyester, a substandard material to others. Polyester is not very inviting to the touch, it’s kind of stiff and it also shows wrinkles very easily. If the pillowcases and shams are also made of 100 percent polyester, it can be hard to get used to the feel of them, as they stay stiff even after washing them many times.
The stitching on the comforter should be in a design and not just straight lines. The stitching holds the filling in place and if it is just straight lines, the filling will make baffles in a short amount of time for a really lumpy appearance.
Check the thread count on the sheets. Many beds in a bags include sheets that are lower than 200 thread count. If the thread count is not listed on the package, open it and feel them. They should be soft and feel comfortable, not scratchy in any manner.
You also need to see how deep the pockets are on the sheets. If they are standard size and you have a pillow top mattress, they may not fit. Extra deep pockets can fit mattresses up to 15 inches deep.
So, bedding in a bag may be an easy way to coordinate all of your bedding, but you need to make certain it fits your comfort level. You may actually do better by buying your bedroom décor separately to get the look and feel that you desire. Sheets that are 300 thread count, such as EDP Custom Fit Fine Linens are very soft on your skin right out of the package. You can also choose flannel or satin sheets of your choice if you buy separates; these are never included in a bed in a bag.
